Nervous

For almost two years now I have had 4 blank canvases. I asked for them for Christmas with the idea I would eventually paint them and hang them up in our house as artwork.

But I cannot decide what to paint... I have these ideas but then talk myself out of them... I'm so worried that I'm going to paint something in my mind and it's going to be awful... I know I can always paint over them again or use paint thinner or something... but idk... I just don't know what to do... nothing is ever going to turn out like it is in my head...

I also got a an already painted canvas at my mom's garage sale I plan on doing something with... I think I just need to get over this "fear" and paint them... our walls very much need things on them...

Please give me some confidence... oh and some better art skills would be helpful too!!

Weekend Recap

In my last post I left off arriving home from San Jose sick...

Friday night we went to bed super duper early. Like were in bed by 9:30... I know that's a bit lame, but I wasn't feeling well... I took meds... and plus Chad had stayed up late most of the time I was gone playing his new video game... boys.

Saturday I was suppose to get up early and go help out at my mom's garage sale. But when my alarm went off bright and early I still wasn't feeling the best so I slept in awhile longer. Around 10 I got up and headed over there. A bit late, but it gave me a chance to help out a bit and hang out with my mom, sister, and brother.

I ended up with a few items after the sale... an super old version of Clue, a purse I used at a dance in high school, an angel hang up thing, a spiderweb thing, a green vase, 2 t-shirts for Chad and a framed canvas that I'm going to try to turn into a craft project.

After the sale we grabbed lunch... Chad even met up with us. After lunch Chad and I headed to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to spend the last of our gift certificates from our wedding. We got a panini press, a metel spatula (for cookies), and a manual can opener (the kind that cuts a smooth edge).

The night we chilled around the house and I watched a movie that I'm embarrassed to say I've never seen before... The Goonies. I have now joined the cool kids and have seen this movie.

Sunday I felt like crap again... my ears kept popping, and that was ANNOYING!! I'm sad to say that we didn't do much of anything on Sunday... oh well.

I decided to call in sick today... I just wasn't feeling great and thought one more day to recover would be in my best interest. I woke up feeling much better... and actually was pretty productive today. I finally got my name changed on my second bank account. I also got to work on birthday gift for someone.

It's going to stink being back at work tomorrow... but atlas no choice there.

Falling Apart at the Seams

I can pin-point the hour I got sick... seriously, it was about the strangest thing...

I got on the plane in San Jose (did I mention I was in San Jose?? My last work trip of the year... more on that another time...) feeling 100% awesome. And by the time the plane landed in Phoenix I was completely drainy. That dang plane got me sick!! It was so bad... if I was sitting upright it was draining down... and when I laid my head on the wall the it drained that direction... bizarre.

I'm always happy to get home... I miss Chad... that may sound silly or something, but really... I miss being with him. But by the time I got home the headache started as well. Chad thinks travel gets me sick since this makes the second time in a row that I've come home sick.

Before the last few months I would say (ok, I still say) I never get sick. It's true though, I've had a healthy life... but man... the last couple of months have not been the best for me.

Random October Party

Chad and I hadn't had a party in quite awhile... so we had everyone over last Saturday. It was a fun night, great turnout.

I love having parties... a few pictures to share... I didn't really take that many...
Liz, Susan, me, and Carrie

Susan, me, Michelle, and Carrie
Like I said we didn't take many pics, but here's proof that there were more people at the party than these 4 girls plus me...
Fun time had by all!!

Quarry

So here's a fact some may not know... but Chad and I live pretty close to a quarry.

What does that have to do with anything you may ask? Well... if you're not home during the day on a weekday, not a heck of a lot.

But when you are home during the day on a weekday an interesting thing happens. You see, once a day they blast in the quarry... which mean our house will shake for a couple a seconds. It's always a bit shocking b/c it happens at different times of the day. (even if it did happen at the same time every day I would not remember...)

It doesn't affect our house... I mean we don't come home and find things shaken off the shelves or anything... it's just a shocking event that happens once a day...

Today's blast was bigger and lasted longer than normal, so that's interesting...

New Rug

On Saturday I showed Chad a rug I had bookmarked months ago. I was pretty sure he was going to veto it... but to my surprise he didn't!! Since it was on Overstock.com I decided to monitor the price of it since they frequently had sales... to my (second) surprise I checked on Sunday as a whim and it was 15% off. I found a coupon online for $10 off the purchase price and Overstock.com has standard shipping for $2.95 for anything... and I was able to convince Chad to order it.

As a reminder this is what we had before... honestly not my favorite (I was very ready for something else) but it suited it's purpose well.

This is what we ordered.
And here's what it looks like in the room.

Here's a good picture to see the furniture, wall, and rug together
I'm really happy with the rug... I think it adds something to the room and I think it looks awesome with the brown furniture and the yellow walls. I will say that I thought it would be a bit more blue-ish... and it seems kinda pink at times. But I'm liking it. We are also thinking of painting the hallway light purpleish gray so I think it will all flow together well. The things that we have left for this room... coffee table, end tables, maybe a lamp for the chaise, a corner table, curtains, and things for the walls. I feel closer than ever to getting this room put together.

What do you think?

A picture I like

A couple of weekends ago Chad and I babysat his cousin... we decided to go to Grants Farm which ended up being a WONDERFUL choice... the weather was amazing and it wasn't too crowded which made the day very pleasurable.

I just wanted to share one picture from the day (I took some more, but this one I really like)

Anniversary

This is pretty behind, but I was finally able to go through the pictures on my camera and here are the ones from our anniversary.

My awesome dad was able to score us some super sweet tickets to the Cardinals - Cubs game. We were even able to take a couple of friends with us.

Here were the awesome tickets...
One year baby!!
Liz and me... ignore my bad teeth in this pic

A views from our seats

If you click on the picture you can make it bigger... and see the attendance

The crazy amounts of people

After the baseball game we went to dinner at the Melting Pot... it was an awesome dinner... This was our second time there and we really enjoyed it again. The food is just so yummy!!

Here's to many more anniversarys together.

Weekend in Review

Maybe I'll try to post about our weekend every Monday as a weekly blog entry... hmm... something to think about...

On Friday we did something St. Louis-y... we went to Taste of St. Louis. It was a cool, crisp night... made me realize we had finally hit fall which is very exciting!! We brought Michelle with us and met up my brother, Keith and his girlfriend, Sarah there. Chad and I had pulled pork sandwiches from Dickey's BBQ... it was okay... Chad says we got the last bit of meat in the tray so I blame the ok-ness on that... but the sauce was tasty... we also had some Pad Thai from Rearn Thai Restaurant... which wasn't nearly as good as the King and I. The reason we went, though, was to see The Presidents of the United States of America... a band from the 90's... you may know them as the singers of great songs like Lump, and that Peaches song. Chad was really digging it, and they put on a great, energy-filled show!!

I would love to attend this event next year... I really enjoyed being out on a fall night... it was a nice cool not a 'I'm miserable' cold. The sucky thing was I had a horrible headache that I had all dang day long... more on that in the next paragraph.

Saturday we planned to go to the Cardinal's game. My dad offered us some great seats, and I was very excited about going on a fall day... Well sadly I woke up that morning to the same horrible headache... only worse. I got ready and was hoping that it would go away but as we were waiting for our friends to show up I realized that I would not have any fun at the game... So I made the decision to stay home... which made me sad, but probably was the best choice. I took some meds and slept for the entire time Chad was gone pretty much. My headache only got worse over the course of that time.

Now I realize that if you are a loyal reader to this blog you may be freaking due to my post earlier this week about dizziness. Well fear not, the vertigo feelings went away around Thursday and this headache was very clearly a sinus problem. Today (Monday) I'm feeling much better... fingers crossed.

Saturday night Chad and I just laid low around the house... I'm not exactly sure what's in the air around this house but our two dogs were injured as well. Rowdy was hobbling around b/c he hurt one of his legs (is much better) and Bozley didn't want to open one eye which we originally thought was due to her running in front of a ball that Chad was throwing for Rowdy and hit her in the face, but upon further review we think it's an allergy problem (which is also much better). After all of that excitement we watched a movie and headed to bed.

Sunday I woke up feeling much better (yay!) Chad and I went to breakfast and then we went to a movie... Zombieland. This is totally worth seeing!! It was really funny and very entertaining. Chad was so excited about seeing this and it did not disappoint. After the movie we came home and cleaned the bedroom, which was nice to have done.

Now it's Monday and it's my day off... It's been awhile since I've got to enjoy my AWS day. What's really cool is including today I have 3 Mondays in a row off!! AND I don't have to work a full week in November!!

Chad's BA-ness

I don't think I've ever posted pictures of Chad's scar... so here you go... they are in order... I know the second to last looks like it should maybe be last, but it's not... Chad is a freak at growing hair...

Stitch-a-roo

Before we got the new furniture back in July Stitch pretty much kept to herself. She'd wake us up on Saturday mornings by meowing like crazy... but she wouldn't spend a whole lot of time with us on a daily basis... she'd rather sit in the window in the other room or a laundry basket in the bedroom, or in other random places.

Well when we got that new furniture she made more appearances in the living room... and would spend more time with us in the living room. I enjoyed that b/c I like having her around more...

But in the last few weeks she's been acting different. Now she wants to sit by or on me all the time. She'll crawl up in my lap (which she would RARELY do before) or in the crook of my legs or if I'm sitting she'll sit right next to me. I've really been loving the fact she's being so friendly to me lately... but it also makes me wonder why...

The only real conclusion I can come up with is she's missed me... I've been away from the house a lot in the past month or so... and let's face it these cats like me more than Chad (sorry Chad)... I think she has missed me being around... and if that is the case isn't that freaking adorable??

Stitch is an adorable cat... her and Pretty are way different... When we got Stitch as a kitten from the Humane Society she had a goofy tail... she must have gotten into a fight or something when she was a kitten b/c it was broken and the top is kinked to the side. What made her so funny looking then was they shaved it down to make she the tail wasn't getting infected... so she had a ball on the top... We knew she was the perfect cat when we saw that. This tail issue also has caused her to pretty much always walk around the house with her tail straight up in the air. She looks like she's prancing around the house... which is why we call her the house princess

Stitch is pretty goofy too... you can tell sometimes she just likes to mess with the dogs. She'll walk over to them and put her big fluffy tail in their faces...

The poor cat though is allergic to something around here... she scratches at her neck a lot which causes her to bleed and then it scabs over... I feel bad for her, but thus far we haven't figured out what to do... she's been to the vet a few times for it... I hope it gets better over the winter.

And here's way too many pics... enjoy
