Pet Peeve

So I've refrained from talking about work on here... I just don't feel like the two should be mixing...

But... there's something that really bothers me... and it has to do with paper. I cannot stand that people will not refill the supply in the copy room. If you use the last of the paper you should walk your butt downstairs and refill the paper supply in the copy room. It's just a common courtesy... What bothers me even more is if you need paper and there's none in the copy room and people just walk downstairs and grab a couple of reams instead of bringing some boxes upstairs... I bet they really appreciate it when there's paper in there and each should take our turn to refill when necessary...

So here's my question... do I tell say something to everyone or just keep my mouth shut? I never know if it's my place or not...

1/25

I'm sitting in the airport in San Diego waiting for my flight... I got here way too early, but I just didn't have anything else to do... so here I am... it's almost 2 and my flight is at 4:40... I'm flying Southwest and luckily I got a really good number so I'll be able to get a good seat.

Anywho... onto the post I've been wanting to write.

I've finished my first book of the year.

I hadn't even realized they made a sequel to Freakonomics... but luckily my mother-in-law, Chris gave me this book for Christmas. I was very excited to read it b/c I enjoyed the first one so much, and this one did not let me down. Written very similar to the first it's filled with interesting facts. I enjoyed each chapter... I learned about creative solutions to global warming, prostitutes, suicide bombers and life insurance, child safety seats, easy solutions, and why monkeys are humans too.

I would highly recommend both this and the first book... I feel like I also need to say that I HATED economics in college... I wasn't good and when I switched to a Business major I was dreading the fact I had to take higher level economics and I absolutely LOVED these books, they make economics and an economical view interesting... so please don't like the "onomics" part scare you.

Cardboard with Ketchup

Have you seen the new Dominos pizza commercials about their new pizza?

Here's what they've changed...

"Our new cheese is made with 100% real mozzarella flavored with just a hint of provolone"

"Our new tomato sauce has a melody of herbs and a red pepper kick"

"Our new garlic seasoned crust with a rich, buttery taste is baked to golden brown"

We decided to try it last night... I've always enjoyed Dominos but the commercials intrigued me. Chad on the other hand didn't like their pizza and usually orders Chicken Kickers.

I've got to say the pizza was REALLY GOOD... I very much enjoyed it!! The surprising thing was Chad loved it to!! The crust is super duper yummy and the sauce had the hint of spice. I really didn't notice the cheese, but I will be ordering another one of these pizzas!!

On a side note, we had our friend Michelle over and she got her half of the pizza with pineapple. I've always said that I find it weird that you'd put pineapple on a pizza, but I tried a piece last night (I didn't realize Chad would eat 2 pieces of my side of the pizza...) thinking I could just pick off the pineapple if it was horrible... but it was really good, I really enjoyed it... the pineapple tasted really good mixed with the sauce... mmm I'm getting hungry thinking about it.

So... in conclusion, Dominos new pizza tastes yummy... go out and get one today!!

The chop

This whole post is a bit embarrassing for me... half due to some horrible pictures and half due to a fact I'm going to share with you now...

I have not had a haircut since last February... that's right... I went nearly a year without a haircut.

My super duper awesome aunt, Ruth cuts my hair for me... she doesn't cut hair professionally but she knows how and graciously cuts my hair for me. I haven't gotten a hair cut from a salon in I don't know how long... and I realized that I would have a hard time going to someone and trusting that they would do a good job. I know Ruth does a good job... I trust her!!

We were out at her house celebrating my Grandma's 73rd birthday. (happy birthday Grandma!!!) Which was a great time. And Ruth offered to cut it.

Anywho onto the pictures!!

Before (ignore my complete ugliness in these pictures and focus on the length of my hair)
I never realized how bad my cowlick is sometimes...
Here's Ruth cutting my hair
And the really weird face I make when she does the sliding cut on my bangs... look how my hair curled when it was cut as well... dang curly hair!!

And here's the after
Some other fun pictures from the day...

That's Chad washing Lindsey's hair for her... never though I'd see that!!
And Lin getting her hair cut
Keith also got in on the action of getting a haircut
And finally my cousin with a bunch of clips in his hair

Doctor

I haven't posted in awhile, I'm sorry about that!!

Today I spent the morning of my day off going to a new doctor. I haven't been to a doctor in quite awhile so I thought I should probably go. I'm pretty good at staying on top of things and going to the doctor when I'm suppose to. The problem I had was I didn't really know who to go see... I had seen my mom's doctor, but really didn't like or connect with her.

Recently I found out through my mom that the OB-GYN we both go to (and love) has a twin sister who is a PCP. I found her number and scheduled an appointment... and today I had my visit. I'm really happy that I went to see a doctor, I know there's plenty of things that I don't do that I need to (diet, exercise, calcium) but it's good to have everything checked out.

Now if you know me at all you know that I get very incredibly nervous when I have to go to the doctor... especially if needles are involved. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to get blood tests or shots... I pretty much assumed that I would have to get some blood work done. After talking to my family they convinced me it wasn't such a sure thing that I would have to give blood and/or get shots. My nerves eased a bit with this information.

However, I did have to get blood work done (which is fine) and get a tetanus shot. At least the shot is good for 10 years :). I managed to get through the needles without fainting or even feeling like I might. That's huge, and I give credit to the staff for calming me and letting me lay down.

So you may be wondering, how is it having two different doctors that are twins. Well, I thought I had prepared myself for it, but it was a bit strange... I mean they look exactly alike, talk alike, have the same mannerisms... it was a bit different, but I'm really happy with the doctor, office, and staff.

So if anything turns up in my blood work I'll let you know... in the mean time I'm going to start taking calcium...

New Years Resolution

I've been thinking about a New Years resolution for the last few days. I haven't really had a resolution in the past few years. I think is silly to say I'm going to lose weight or exercise more often (both of which I NEED to do...)

I wanted to come up with something that I should be doing but different than the typical New Years Resolution.

Last night as I was falling asleep (or was it this morning... I don't remember) I came up with it...

I'm resoluting (is that the right word?... probably not but I digress) to read more books in the upcoming year and review on my blog... I'm going to set the goal at 25 books... I wanted to aim for 50 but I hear it's better to make obtainable goals.

So if you have any books to recommend let me know, I'm all ears :)

Happy 2010 Everyone!!
