First Week

Well... some of you may be wondering how my first week at my new job has gone... It's been great. It was only a four-day week due to President's Day. My first two days were spent new employee orientation... It's a bit strange since we have to go through orientation with the hospital employees so we got to learn about things like preventing infection... yum.

Thursday I finally got to start settling in... I got to meet a lot of my co-workers and get my desk. I also found out a lot of stuff about the schedule I can work and the leave I'll get... which was exciting. I can work a compressed work schedule and work 8-nine hour days, 1-eight hour day, and have a day off every other week... AWESOME!! My problem is trying to figure out what day I want off.

Friday I spent nearly all day doing online-training... I'm just glad to have that over with... it's always a little boring.

Next week I think I'll really start to get into what I'm doing and start to learn more. I'm excited... Chad can attest to this... I'm just much happier :) I have to get a physical tomorrow which I'm nervous about, so hopefully this week goes well and I'll have more things to talk about!!

Jenn's Survivor Recap

Okay... I really need suggestions on what to call this segment... I need something more creative than 'Jenn's Survivor Recap'... so I'm asking for your help!!

I know I'm way late in writing this post... and I'm thinking I may just make notes instead of writing a full blown one this week... but who knows what's going to happen when I start writing.

  • For one... when Jeff was doing his normal introduction of the season... they were in the back of a truck... well... it was really bumpy and I found it strange that he was giving his speal and the contestents were pretending he wasn't there talking... it was strange to me.
  • Why did they the two voted off think they were actually going home?? He said "not making this journey" not "going home" people need to get clued in!!
  • Sandy is an idiot... she couldn't find the idol... silly girl it isn't that hard anymore.
  • That guy (Tyrone?) who got naked... he's awesome.
  • The challenge was very close, which might mean the teams are somewhat evenly matched... that would be fresh
  • The bossy chick goes home first... people don't like being bossed... when will they learn?
That was a really short recap... I promise they will be better... when I'm not sick... cross my heart!!

Good Riddance!!

Friday was my last day at Wachovia. No one seemed to have hard feelings... everyone seemed genuinely happy for me... probably a little envious that it was me and not them. They bought me lunch (which was nice, but since I was still getting over being sick I couldn't eat that much)...

I thought instead of saying all the reason I'm glad to be leaving I'll state some things I'll miss...

  • when it snowed I didn't have to clean off my car b/c I could park in a garage
  • the cafeteria staff... they were always so nice and remembered me
  • Good Friday holiday
  • Early dismissal
  • Nachos for lunch... oh and the baked potato bar
Okay... that's all I could think of off-hand... I'm sure there is more I'll miss... and I'll probably figure some more out in the coming weeks... Good Bye AG Edwards/Wachovia/Wells Fargo... it was nice working for you but it's time for me to move on... peace!!

I'm behind

Yes... I know... I'm like way behind in writing... I'm not sure how or why I got so behind, but atlas... I did... I mean I've had a busy couple of weeks and haven't posted anything... even Survivor started last week and I didn't write my Survivor recap... what has been up with me?!?!

Well... here are three items of note

(1) I was sick... sick sick... like didn't want to get out of bed all day sick... like had a fever for 4 days sick... like tried to go into work and 1.5 hours later I was on my way home sick... like didn't consume anything other than water, Gatorade, meds, and 1/3 of a can of tomato soup sick... I never ever remember having the flu (one of the things I pride myself on) and now I can no longer say that... I was home sick for two full days of my last week... it sucked... hardcore.

(2) Chad and others convinced me I needed to do something different with my hair... well this weekend I took a trip out to visit my favorite hairstylist... my aunt Ruth... she chopped off a lot of my hair... I now have a shorter cut... I like it a lot... but I'm still getting use to it. I haven't had short hair in a very long time... I'll post a picture soon.

(3) I start my new job tomorrow... I'm excited!!

Sad Ending and New Beginnings

On Thursday night Chad wanted me to come home early (early being leave work slightly before 7 instead of at 7) When I got home I found Chad holding a puppy... I couldn't believe he had a puppy... I thought we had decided that we would wait awhile before getting another dog... but low and behold...

I asked him where this little guy came from... He said that a guy from his work had heard about our loss and wanted to give us one of his pitbull puppies... So meet Rowdy... our new addition... I haven't had a puppy in a very long time and it's pretty cool having him around... He already seems to get the idea that he has to bathroom outside... while he still has some accidents he's pretty good about going toward the door when he has to go... he's already playing with dog toys and he's adorable... While he will never replace Bear... he is loved... so here's some pics!!

This one is my favorite!!

I've been keeping a secret...

...from some of you...

I've been waiting for this to be a little more to be finalized... but I applied, interviewed, offered, and accepted a new job. I will now be working for the Department of Veteran's Affairs in the Employee Education System. (more specific duties to come) I'm very very excited about this opportunity. My last day at Wachovia will be Friday the Thirteen.

So YAY to me!!

(BTW my commute to work will be about 5-7 minutes and no highway... whoop there it is)

RIP Bear

We had to put our Bear to sleep yesterday.

After Wednesday's surgery Bear seemed to be getting better, he started eating a bit of food and drinking... he even managed to have a BM... But on Friday he started to look worse... on Saturday Chad took him to the vet (I had to work :( ) The vet said that his intestine was leaking and they offered to do surgery free of charge... they called in the other vet and preform emergency surgery on him. He made it through the surgery... but his prognosis was not looking good. He slept through the night and seemed to be in better spirits Sunday... drinking and even eating a bit... but by Monday he was back to worse... Chad took him to the vet, and we both knew what was going to happen... he wouldn't be able to endure another surgery, and not sure we'd want to put him through that anyway... We had to put Bear to sleep.

Our poor puppy... he was only 5 months old but left such an impression on my heart. I've never met a sweeter dog. I'm really really going to miss him. I know he's not suffering now... and don't all dogs go to heaven?
