28 Weeks

How far along:  28 weeks; size of a head of cauliflower or an eggplant... pretty sure I've had both of those vegetables already... but whatever - also - THIRD TRIMESTER... eek

How I'm feeling:  I'm still going with good, although slightly more uncomfortable at times than I have been... and by slightly, I mean slightly... not complaining at this point!

Sleep:  I sleep really well, I will say getting up in the middle of the night to pee (1-2 times a night still) is a little more painful.  I'm not sure what it is about those middle of the night wake ups that I feel sore and my belly hurts/cramps (for lack of a better word) but by the time I get up in the morning I don't have those pains.  Rolling over is also a workout and can be uncomfortable at times.  I will say I'm seriously thinking about buying a bed frame soon b/c getting out of our low bed is just annoying lately.

Worries/Fears:  Childcare, birth, what the heck I'll do with a child... the normal things

Miss anything: Nothing really this week

Movement:  Quite a bit, but I wish baby would time big kicks right when I was around someone who would actually feel it.  I did force Dan to touch my belly this week... so I'm working on him

Food cravings:  Sweets... why couldn't it be vegetables?  Also I want soda, yummy cold bubbly soda.  I do drink soda at times, but try not to drink too much.  I have been going to QT at times and getting a mostly caffeine free diet coke, with a little regular coke and cherry flavor fountain drink.  I've always been a fan of mixing regular and diet soda together.

Food aversions: Nada

Other symptoms:  The swelling hasn't been bad this week - I think b/c the temperature was overall cooler this week... of course next week is looking hot again so we can test that theory.  Also the hot flashes happen more often which isn't the most fun to start sweating out of no where.

Maternity clothes, Stretch marks, Belly Button:  Maternity clothes... my belly button is looking funny and can pop out a bit, but luckily not showing through clothes.  I did buy a pair of regular cheap flip flops b/c well potential fat feet and the only flip flops I wear are my FitFlops and they are chunkier and taller.

What I'm looking forward to: Keith will be in town this week (yes, he's been in a bunch this year!) And productivity!

Best moment of this week:  The work week went really fast and I was off on Friday which even better.  Thursday night I made dinner and then cross-stitched.  Friday I woke up and did some chores around the house.  Then Lindsey headed over and we got Thai for lunch at King and I (so so good) and stopped by TRX for her to get some body jewelry.  Afterwards we hung out for awhile and got snow cones from a place near my house.  I've got to say, they were probably the best snow cones I've ever had... I'll be going back!  That night Dan and I got dinner and then I cross-stitched.

Saturday I met up with my mom and we first went to Babies R Us to look at gliders.  Casually walked around that store.  I'll probably get a glider from a friend of my mom's which is great.  Next we went to Once Upon a Baby to look around and I bought about 4 onesies/sleep dress/shirt things for baby.  I was probably too worried we'd have no clothing for this baby, so I wanted something.  I got them all for about $17 which didn't seem to bad.  Next we looked at Joann's for fabric for a couple of projects for the nursery.  Then went to Target to look around... I ended up buying a bunch of random crap we needed.  We stopped for drinks at Sonic before checking out Hancock Fabrics.  Finally we checked out a Kid's Resale shop in Arnold I've passed a bunch near my work.  I'll be checking them out again.  We had lunch at Bellecinos and then headed back to her house.  We then looked at fabric online before finally deciding what to get - for curtains, crib skirt and possibly a small pillow.  It sounds like a lot of running around, but really it was a nice day!  That night Dan and I ordered some calzones and I cross-stitched.
too perfect for our house

Sunday Dan and I went grocery shopping together.  Then when I got back my dad called and asked if I wanted to meet him for brunch - so I met him at the casino for brunch.  That afternoon was relaxing and I, you guessed it, cross-stitched.

27 Weeks

How far along:  27 weeks; size of a head of cauliflower or a cucumber... also read that I'm entering the third trimester soon... yikes!

How I'm feeling:  I'd say good.

Sleep:  is good.  I'm back to my routine of getting into bed between 9-9:30 and watching something on my phone and then falling asleep shortly afterwards.  Rolling over continues to be a workout and I end up on my back a lot... propped up of course.  Oh also, I wanted to mention that I've been making an effort to fall asleep with my wrists straight instead of curled up, so far I haven't gotten any of the bad arm cramping I've gotten in the past, but not sure if it's related or not.

Worries/Fears:  I had a moment overnight that I started to stress about childcare again... but hopefully I've talked myself off that cliff... I did email a couple of people I saw on Craigslist - this will work out!

Miss anything: Just the normal movements I was able to do before being pregnant... bending over, twisting, etc.

Movement:  Oh yes... moving all over the place.  This weekend I could actually see my belly move at points.  One night too I felt a lot of movement and I could feel exactly where he was moving like it was real hard in a place and then a minute later it was softer again.  So far Dan refuses to feel the baby kick... silly boy and haven't been able to time it right for others to feel.  One other thing, I have felt jabs into my bladder at times, that's an interesting feeling.

Food cravings:  Nothing specific, but sweet things, ice cream, cookies, candy, etc... I've also been craving an iced coffee which is weird since I'm not a coffee drinker, but I bought a single serve one at the grocery store and made myself part of it (maybe with some chocolate and caramel syrup) and it was pretty good!

Food aversions: Nada

Other symptoms:  Holy cankles/fat feet friends.  The swelling in that region was crazy this last week.  I guess that's what happens when you're pregnant and it's 100 degrees with humidity outside.  I've also experienced getting real hot a few times this last week too... and at the beginning of the week the heartburn/indigestion was pretty awful... luckily that's calmed down.  I've also started taking a stool softener a few times a week... I'll just leave it as that.

Maternity clothes, Stretch marks, Belly Button:  Maternity clothes of course... of course the dress you'll see below it's maternity just a flowy dress.  I really dislike the full panel all the way up on my belly, but also helps keep my pants up.

What I'm looking forward to: Getting more done... we've gotten so much done that it feels good and I want to continue the productiveness.

Best moment of this week:  It was a good week.  Even though I worked 5 days, it went by fast.  There's a lot going on at work lately (for future self, our contractor left and we're getting a hiring freeze waiver).

On Thursday I left work a little early and went to a dentist appointment.  That went really really fast!  My teeth look good although my gums are a bit inflamed... not surprising though, that's a pregnancy thing and should hopefully go away after giving birth.  It's what causes my gums to bleed.  After the appointment I killed some time at Homegoods (I bought a new dog bed and some hand soap) and then met Susan for happy hour at Bar Louie in Kirkwood.  We spent a few hours there eating and drinking.  I had specialty drinks off their non-alcoholic menu - it's fun to drink something different.

Friday I worked, after work I came home, did some chores and then we ordered pizza and I cross-stitched and watched TV.

Saturday morning I got up early and met my Dad and Janet for a quick breakfast at Tim Horton's.  It was fun to try the new place, although you could really tell the place at just opened.. like we counted 14 staff members but no real organization... the food was good though!

Next we went over to Buy Buy Baby and picked out furniture.  It's so great they wanted to help out and got us a beautiful crib and double dresser.  I'm very thankful.  That afternoon Dan and I ran a few places.  That night I cross-stitched and Dan painted the nursery - it's coming together!

We got the crib and the double dresser (not the piece on top just the drawers) in the finish shown (vintage)

Beautiful picture I know, but it was like an orange-y color previously.  This is Classic Silver in Behr Premium Plus Ultra - one coat!

Sunday we met up with Dan's sister Amanda and her husband.  We went to a bar by their apartment and hung out.  It was a lot of fun to reconnect.  Then we came home and then it was practically time for bed... two day weekends are just too short!

26 weeks

How far along:  26 weeks; size of an eggplant or length of a green onion

Appointment:  I had my 25 week check up last Friday and my mom came to the appointment too.  I had my 1-hour glucose test.  I am supposed to hear if I failed today... and let's just hope I passed!  I also had a growth ultrasound to see how baby was growing.  Everything looked good!  Baby is measuring right where we want her to be.  The nurse practitioner did mention that she has long legs (hey we are both tall!).  My mom asked the ultrasound tech if more people find out the sex of the baby or keep it a surprise.  She said that we were in the minority of waiting.  She said that she doesn't get to tell that many people what they are having because the gender reveal stuff is so popular... but waiting until the end doesn't happen all the often either.  I think it's going to be so fun to wait until the baby is born to know if it's a boy or girl.  Some things are better with anticipation I believe.  I will say this is the longest I had to wait in the office.  I had the glucose test so I got there way early b/c I didn't want to miss my window for the blood draw.  And then I think they may had gone out of order on the ultrasound... not positive since they said they had to squeeze someone in, but really I think it may have happened... we were there for like 2 hours.
Baby (and for future reference that's how his hand by his nose - that's the umbilical cord)

How I'm feeling:  Good!

Sleep:  is still going well, I did have some trouble sleeping over the weekend but I think that had to do with Dan being out of town more than pregnancy... at least that's what I'm hoping.  Then last night I was so exhausted I went to bed before 7... I dozed on and off and was awake from like 9-10:30 or so and then had a weird night of sleep after that.  Hoping this past weekend was just a fluke and not the new normal.

Worries/Fears:  Really my biggest fear is falling into that whole being a parent thing... and labor... labor really freaks me out too... so I'm enjoying this easy being pregnant thing in the meantime.

Miss anything: While the stuff I've mentioned other weeks is still true, this week I'm going to say bending over... the ground is feeling further and further away.

Movement:  I've been feeling good movement, until yesterday (Sunday) when I didn't feel as much.  I've felt little things here and there, so I'm not worrying myself too much, but I wouldn't mind feeling a big strong kick anytime now.

Food cravings:  Nothing specific, I will say that I want sweet things over salty/savory food.

Food aversions: Again, nothing

Other symptoms:  Same that's been going on... peeing a lot, my shoulders/back can get sore/tired.  I will say this week I experience being really hot for no reason.  I usually wear a long sleeved shirt and cover up with a blanket in the basement b/c it's cool down there... But one day this week I was so hot.  I asked Dan if he was hot too, and he said no, so I guess that's another thing.  Really though I don't have a lot to complain about.

Maternity clothes, Stretch marks, Belly Button:  Maternity clothes of course... everything else the same.  I will say my belly button looks so small... but as I think about it, it's quite possible that I've also had a smallish belly button.

What I'm looking forward to: Getting through my first 5-day work week in over 5 weeks... spoiled? Yes!

Best moment of this week:  I finished all the to-dos on my list.  There were several things that I wanted to get done after I got back from vacation.  In my head they are a bit in phases.  I listed a bunch last week, but this week I officially order the breast pump from my insurance.  I also registered this weekend.  After my appointment Friday, mom and I had lunch at Sugarfire BBQ.  It was so good!  We each got pork plates but I had mac and cheese and fried green beans as a side and she had beans and cornbread.  We also shared a piece of Mississippi Mud Pie.

After lunch we headed to Buy Buy Baby and registered... and talk about overwhelming!  So many choices there was definitely a moment of where the heck do we begin with all this?  After listening to my mom say that we survived just fine without this or that she settled on that.  I'm glad I did some research ahead of time.  We spent about 3 hours in there!  After that we stopped in at Joann's (next door) and bought some additional supplies for the alphabet letters.  I wanted to make about 5 of the letters 'unconventional' so needed to figure out what those would be.  Needless to say I was exhausted by the end of the day.

Saturday I had a real low key day where I hardly did anything productive.  I got breakfast and then sat on the couch and watched stupid TV while cleaning up my registry and adding some things to another store.  I spent about four hours doing this and afterward I was so done thinking about baby stuff!  I also was on the phone with Buy Buy Baby customer service because I couldn't log into my account.  I took a short nap after that, made some dinner (and brownies) and then cross-stitched.
Quina was so well behaved while Dan was out of town... not...

Sunday I went over to my mom's house and we spent a good part of the day working on the alphabet letters for the nursery.  They are all done! I am so amazed with how good they turned out and so thankful my mom and Lindsey were able to help.  I think I'll hold off about the process we took and add that to a different post.  Afterwards we went to dinner and got FroYo.  I went home with the intention of cross-stitching but I was so spent and went to bed early.
So happy

turned out great

Week 25

How far along:  25 weeks; size of a rutabaga... b/c I could totally picture that?!?

How I'm feeling:  Still good

Sleep:  Is good for the most part I just have an internal battle just about every night on whether I should just get up and pee or pretend like I don't have to... Rolling over is a lot of work, not just b/c of the belly, but getting situated in my 'new' spot by getting the body pillow over.  I've also found that if I lay too long on one side that side of my body (shoulder, hip) gets sore and sometimes my arm falls asleep.  I end up on my back quite a bit but the addition of the extra pillow when I do helps keep me propped up.  I'm not sure I mentioned this, but a few weeks ago I was getting like really hot at night, so I added a fan to my side of the bed and that's helped out so much.

Worries/Fears:  Same as last week, that whole having to keep another person alive and well thing... but we'll cross that bridge soon enough

Miss anything: Sleeping on my stomach is a big one as is being able to bend over easily, but to a lesser extent having an adult beverage... especially this past weekend with Fourth of July... I did buy myself some fancy soda in glass bottles to attempt having something fun to drink.

Movement:  Movement is much more consistent - it's so fun feeling him move in there

Food cravings:  Nothing... although as I type this a coworker that left for a new job gave us cups with chocolate candies inside and it's taking all the restraint not to eat the entire cup.

Food aversions: Again, nothing

Other symptoms:  Oh let's see... I pee all the time, I thought I was peeing a lot before, but now I think the baby is camped out on my bladder b/c I feel the need to go all the time, but I don't pee a lot in any of those visits (TMI?).

Maternity clothes, Stretch marks, Belly Button:  Maternity clothes of course... with the full panel pants, I'm feeling the need to pull the full panel up now to keep some pants up... although I don't love it on my belly.  Also, I noticed my linea nigra appeared.

What I'm looking forward to: The weekend?  I'm looking forward to my appointment on Friday - I'll take my glucose test (pray I pass the first time!) and I'll have another ultrasound.  My mom is coming to the appointment with me.  I'm also planning on registering and crib shopping!  Dan will be out of town Friday through Tuesday so I'm also looking forward to a bed to myself!

Best moment of this week:  I got some major to-dos checked off the ol' before the baby comes lists - sure there's plenty more, but still feels good.  I made a template for the alphabet wall in baby's room.  I finished the cross-stitch stocking I've been working on for myself, which means I can move to the framed cross-stitch I'm working on for the baby's room (so much more fun than the one I was working on).

I signed us up for classes starting in August - we'll have four weeks of child birth classes, an infant care class and a breastfeeding class.  I emailed with my HR at work for maternity information and I contacted insurance about a breast pump (tried using their online thing, so this step might not be complete yet...) I also made a dental appointment.  I ordered paint for the baby's room.  I've had paint samples up for awhile and have been going back to the same color so it will be Classic Silver (a medium tone of gray).

Finally, we cleared out the room in the basement which is the first in a series of dominoes to start getting the baby's room done.  That room was a disaster area (see below) beforehand.  We needed to clear out that room to put the bed in there (to make it like a guest room of sorts).  So now the room is cleared out mostly, I have to clean the carpet in a spot but then we'll move the bed down there.  Then we can move the animals out of the spare room upstairs (the dogs' kennels and bird cage are currently in there).  Then we'll paint and I'll steam clean the carpet (you know because the animals were in there) and it will be all ready to get decorating!

So I'd say I was somewhat productive in the last week!

In other news Fourth of July weekend was really nice.  On Friday morning I met Liz and we got our nails done.  So relaxing and fun to catch up.  That afternoon some new friends of Dan's came over and we chatted out on the deck.  That evening Caleb came over and we hung out.  We were able to mostly see the JB Blast fireworks from our driveway (just not the low ones) - so that worked out real well.

Saturday we had a lazy morning (I made breakfast including pancakes, but I'm terrible at making pancakes... terrible... I need to try again).  That afternoon we went over to some friend's house to hang out (Nick and Jenny).  They grilled a tri-tip and we had a really nice meal.  Sunday was a day around the house but included said room cleaning out... that took up a big portion of the day.  I'll be honest when I say I helped carry most everything out of the room, but a lot of it was watching Dan organize his stuff.  Somehow that room turned into his dumping ground (I hadn't quite realized how much either).  Awhile ago I had organized my stuff into the room into piles - wasn't pretty, but I had gone through what I wanted/didn't want and put stuff in different locations that 'went together'.  So I had it much easier than him which was all over the place.  I'm so happy it's done though!
